Gluing with standard plumbing PVC primer and cement.
Trimmed.
Patched and ready for roundover routing.

Painted and ready for its guts. The gearbox is already sealed and doesn't need protection in the enclosure.
But first, the enclosure needs a special sleeve to seal the drive shaft. Being able to fabricate one-off parts is a huge part of real-world engineering. Good luck trying to buy something like this at the store!
